Thyra Weiss - Dalahäst Röd

Pris

kr5,500.00

Artist: Thyra Weiss

Thyra Wiess "Dalahäst" are inspired by the visual language of Japanese noren and the traditional Swedish dalahäst. The work is suspended using handcrafted wooden rods -  a subtle reference to the iconic form of the dalahorse. The textile is printed using Acra-K, a technique in which the pigment rests delicately on the surface of the fabric.

Thyra Weiss explores ways of combining painting with weaving and other textile techniques. Defining herself as a multidisciplinary artist, she considers painting her foundation and weaving her primary medium. The textile works emerge as collaborations between herself and the material, where their respective wills meet to create something entirely new. Her process often involves grasping tangled thoughts with her hands and weaving them into forms she can understand, projecting the inner world outward. Themes of grief, melancholy, everyday life and the passage of time recur throughout her work.

Alongside her textile and painting practice, Weiss also creates illustrations, including work for children’s literature and album covers for musicians.Thyra Weiss (b. 1998) lives and works in Stockholm. She is currently completing a BA in Textile Art at Konstfack, graduating in 2026, and recently spent a semester on exchange at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK).
