Klara Wirsén Suchowiak
WAY gallery presents the exhibition "ÄGD" by Klara Wirsén Suchowiak's, opening Thursday, March 5.
Klara Wirsén Suchowiak's artistic practice is rooted in a fascination with the three - dimensional and the sculptural. The body, tactility, and emotional narrative are central to her work, with experiences of parenthood serving as a recurring point of departure.
She seeks to create works that are not only seen, but physically and emotionally experienced. Through sculptural objects, domestic spaces and inner states are explored and given form and presence in the physical world.
Wirsén’s work invites the viewer to be drawn in and to feel a strong urge to engage - both emotionally and physically. The viewer is encouraged to imagine furry surfaces against their skin, glossy fiberglass against the tongue, cold stone against the cheek, and to sense their own body twisting and swelling in response.
Working with a wide range of materials, including wood, metal, stone, textiles, plastic, fiberglass, and found objects, Wirsén creates works that are both inviting to touch and emotionally charged. Materials are chosen for their ability to evoke bodily sensations, and experimentation with new materials and techniques is a vital part of her artistic process.
Klara Wirsén Suchowiak (b. 1994) is an artist based in Stockholm. She studied at Beckmans College of Design, Gerlesborgs School of Fine Art, and Nyckelviksskolan. Her work has been shown in numerous group exhibitions, including the Spring Salon at Liljevalchs Art Hall, and is represented in the collection of Värmlands Museum.
