Ceramicist

Tove Blanck

Tove is a Stockholm-based ceramicist. She studied ceramics at Capellagården on Öland (2018–2020), and previously attended Chalmers University of Technology for architecture and Nyckelviksskolan for art and craft. Since spring 2021, she has run a small ceramic studio on Kungsholmen.

Tove wants her work to spark the viewer’s imagination. Much of her inspiration comes from vintage comic strips, drawn to their bold, universal aesthetic. By translating illustration onto a three-dimensional canvas, she adds a sense of movement, requiring the viewer to walk around the object to take in the full image. She enjoys working with strong, vibrant colours that bring a slightly comic feel, contrasted by deep black shadows that create a dramatic effect.

She mainly works with stoneware clay, decorating her pieces using engobe, liquid coloured clay applied in layers. Her crisp, graphic visual language is achieved through a unique stencil technique.
