Manon Steyaert’s practice moves between painting and sculpture, exploring colour, material and gesture through both traditional and unconventional mediums. Working with oil paint, canvas, wood and silicone, she creates layered works in which material, movement and surface are closely intertwined. Silicone has long played a central role in her practice, often treated almost like fabric: draped, folded and layered over painted surfaces to challenge the boundaries between painting and sculpture.

More recently, Steyaert has turned her attention increasingly towards painting, reconnecting with the intuitive and gestural language of abstraction. Her recent works draw from memories of places, landscapes and environments that have shifted, disappeared or become distant over time. Rather than depicting these places directly, she allows fragments of colour, atmosphere and sensation to emerge through the painting process, exploring the ways in which memory transforms our relationship to place.

Manon Steyaert (b. 1996, Belgium) is a French-British artist living and working in London. She studied fashion and fine art, completing a Foundation at Central Saint Martins (2014–2015), a BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins (2015–2018), and an MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts (2018–2019).

Steyaert has exhibited internationally across the UK and Europe, with solo exhibitions at Annika Nuttall Gallery in Aarhus and Blue Shop Gallery in London. Her work has also been presented in group exhibitions at Gillian Jason Gallery, Haricot Gallery and Saatchi Gallery in London, MXM Gallery in Madrid, as well as in exhibitions in Brussels, Shanghai and New York. She has participated in CHART Art Fair and Enter Art Fair in Copenhagen on several occasions.
