Artist

Thyra Weiss

Thyra Weiss is a Stockholm-based artist. In her practice, she explores different ways of combining painting with weaving and other textile techniques. She is currently completing a BA in Textile Art at Konstfack (graduating in 2026) and recently spent a semester on exchange at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK).

Thyra defines herself as a multidisciplinary artist, with painting as her foundation and weaving as her primary medium. She sees her textile work as a collaboration between herself and the material, where their respective wills meet to create something entirely new. Her process often involves using her hands to grasp tangled thoughts and weave them into something she can understand, projecting the inner world outward. Her work centers on themes such as grief, melancholy, everyday life, and the passage of time.

In addition to her textile and painting practice, Thyra also creates illustrations, including work for children's literature and album covers for various musicians.
